Apple and Google Settle Smartphone Patent Lawsuits

Apple Inc and Google Inc has finally decided to stop all litigation between them. The combine statement of these firms has confirmed that they will work together in some area. They have also stated that the settlement does not include a cross license to their respective patents.

Apple generally used Google‘s android software in their handsets. In order to protect their technology they have filed number of lawsuits against each other. This settlement is only with the Apple and Google not with the Samsung Electronics.

Both Companies has federal appealed on Washington court that their all lawsuits against each other should be dismissed. The high-profile case between Apple and Motorola has started in2010. Motorola accused Apple of conflicting several patents, including one essential to how cellphones operate on a 3G network, while Apple said Motorola violated its patents to certain smartphone features. The Chicago court has dismissed this case due to sort of evidence in 2012.

Google acquired Motorola Mobility in 2012 for US$12.5 billion, and this year announced it was selling Motorola Mobility’s handset business to the well known electronic company Lenovo, while keeping the huge majority of the patent
